There's a story here... this lovely doe was originally a keeper, that I had named Mahalo - Hawaiian for Thank You.. but I ended up selling her to fund purchasing back yearlings that I regretting selling in 2018. My dear friend Judy at Rivers Rest Farm purchased her, and came to bring her home. My youngest daughter watched me load little Leilani - her name at the time, and clouded up, but kept it together.. until she drove away. Little Sydney's heart broke when Leilani left. She cried for hours. I tried to get her to accept another baby goat as "hers", but all she wanted was her "Meilani" - the name she had been calling this darling doe. I had no idea Sydney had bonded with this doeling, but she had clearly bonded. This was HER baby. So I called Judy, and of course she allowed me to have Leilani back. MAHALO, Judy!! You are the best, really. I can't express how much it means to me, and to Sydney. Turns out Meilani actually means "Beautiful Flower" in Hawaiian - so 3 year old Sydney named her baby :) - Mahalo again to Judy for figuring that out as well!
So... not just a pretty name, or an adorable story.. Meilani is line bred on the late great Flat Rock's Gem ++S ++B
and extensively on Irish Whisper Harry Potter +B.
